Colorado Healthcare Communicators board members are volunteers who work within or provide services to Colorado's healthcare community. Board positions are nominated and voted on annually by the membership. Most position terms are one year, not to exceed two consecutive terms

2010 Board Bios:

Past President - Tammy Stratton
Tammy Stratton is the vice president of client services for The Bawmann Group, an integrated communication firm. The Bawmann Group is known for its healthcare, bioscience and scientific expertise as well as its integrated approach to marketing, advertising and public relations. A senior member of The Bawmann Group for nearly 10 years, Tammy formulates strategic direction and implements marketing, PR and advertising activities for those they serve. Through the years, she has been involved in virtually every aspect of The Bawmann Group’s work from high-level strategic planning and crisis management to the detailed implementation of complex, multi-faceted integrated campaigns including marketing, advertising, media relations, community relations and Web development. She works regularly with CEOs and senior level managers to provide strategic counsel and manage a broad range of communication activities. Tammy is an active participant with the Colorado Healthcare Communicators having served on the board for a total of six years. 


President – Marie Revenew                                                                 Marie Revenew is Director of Client Services at Sadler-Dorchester an integrated marketing agency in Denver. An award-winning advertising and marketing professional with over 15 years of healthcare marketing experience, Marie has worked with healthcare systems and hospitals across the country. She specializes in strategic marketing planning, implementation and tracking for consumer, employee and physician communications including awareness, service line and recruitment and customer satisfaction initiatives. Marie has been active in CHC for five years and has previously held the post of membership chairperson and vice president.

Secretary – Carol Piaseczny, APR

With 20 years of experience in New York City and in the Rocky Mountain region in public relations, advertising and public affairs, Carol has provided strategic counsel to CEOs, boards of directors and business owners in over 100 companies where her expertise has proven valuable in national launches, branding and positioning, development and fundraising, community relations, crisis communications and Web development. She has directed statewide media relations to raise awareness and advocate support for treatment and funding for the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance (COCA). For Homewatch CareGivers, an international provider of in-home care in 170 US locations and 19 international locations, she achieved over 50 MM media impressions in the first year of a national media relations program, enabling Homewatch CareGivers to attain a 32% gain in sales revenue.  She launched Argosy University-Denver, a leader in graduate and doctoral health-related academic programs, which exceeded enrollment goals and accelerated advanced degree offerings; directed public relations efforts for The Rocky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis Center, which has the largest brain tissue bank in the world, helping raise $1.4MM annually; and developed marketing campaigns for The Center for Hearing, Speech and Language and served on its board of directors for three years. Carol is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America and holds her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from The Ohio State University.


Treasurer - Elizabeth Whitehead
Elizabeth Whitehead began her three-year term as Colorado Healthcare Communicator's treasurer in 2009. Elizabeth performs media relations at The Children’s Hospital, where her team places an average of 70 significant stories per week. She has been in healthcare public relations and marketing since 2002, working for hospitals in Virginia and Colorado before joining The Children’s Hospital in January 2006. Prior to entering healthcare, Elizabeth managed a successful $6 million capital campaign for Richmond Ballet, provided training and development to Virginia AmeriCorps members, directed the Mayor’s Office America’s Promise campaign in Charleston, S.C. and served as an AmeriCorps service-learning coordinator. Elizabeth has been on the receiving end of three Colorado Healthcare Communicators Grand Gold Leaf awards. The Children’s Hospital team earned the 2009 award for their creative large-scale Centennial communications program and the 2008 award for the media coverage during the hospital’s historic move. In 2006, the award went to Elizabeth for her work on the Rose Medical Center’s Rose Baby Campaign.

 

Gold Leaf Co-Chair – Melissa Ford
Melissa Ford joined Colorado Healthcare Communicators as a 2009 Gold Leaf Awards chair. She has professional experience is in marketing, with a skill set in sales, promotions and communications. Melissa began her career with an advertising agency in media and public relations at Rick Johnson & Co. She later moved into sales in merchant services with Discover Card. Melissa followed her desire, making the move to the healthcare industry marketing medical devices for Viasys and working for both St. Anthony Hospitals and The Eating Disorder Center of Denver. Melissa now performs marketing/promotions contract work and market the family business, The Gourmet Grind, a coffee vending service but stays actively involved in the healthcare industry through networking with and being a member of Colorado Health Care Communicators. She is also a member of Executive Women's International, Denver chapter and local chambers of commerce. 


Gold Leaf Co-Chair – Carie Sherman
Carie Sherman joined the CHC board as Gold Leaf co-chair in 2010. A communications professional with 10+ years of experience in communications, Carie currently manages the marketing communications functions for COPIC Medical Foundation and COPIC Financial Service Group. Carie also implements internal communication strategies, chairs community relations events, and writes/edits a variety of publications. Carie holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Northern Iowa and a master’s degree in communications from the University of Denver. In addition, Carie works as a freelance writer for a variety of non-profit and health care-related organizations.

 

Marketing Committee Co-Chair - Nina Faull
Nina Faull is in her fourth year with CHC and the marketing committee. In 2005, Nina began her career in healthcare communications as an account executive with AlphaSleep® Diagnostic Centers, immediately after she completed her master's in business at the University of Phoenix, Online. At AlphaSleep, Nina is responsible for new client development, nurturing client relationships, developing marketing strategies and coordinating public awareness campaigns which educate physicians and the public about sleep and sleep-related disorders. In addition to her master's degree, Nina holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Arizona.

Marketing Committee Co-Chair – Molly Pereira
Molly Pereira is associate executive director of the Colorado Dental Association. She produces the organization's publications, manages media inquiries, is responsible for all communications and PR efforts and oversees the association's operations. She has been with the CDA for eight years. Prior to her current job, Molly was a communications specialist for the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations. She possesses a journalism background and has dedicated her communications career thus far to nonprofit public relations. 

Programs Committee – Mary Lemma 
Mary Lemma launched her own freelance writing business in 2009 after working at University of Colorado at Denver, where she was bitten by the healthcare bug while assigned to the health sciences schools at the Anschutz Medical Campus. She joined CHC last April and began serving on the board as membership chair in January. Mary has been writer, editor and communication specialist in organizational communication for more than 15 years, in both external and internal communication, and in a variety of settings. Her experience stretches from a large utility in New England to a medium size university in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Programs Committee Co-Chair - Jacy Conradt 
Jacy Conradt is the community relations coordinator for Mental Health America of Colorado (MHAC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to mental health and wellness. She has been with MHAC since January of 2005 and her experience provides for the diversity needed to maintain the agency’s brand and marketing materials, respond to media requests and promote mental health in the media as well as provide information and education to the community-at-large about the services provided by MHAC. Jacy has 14 years experience in the marketing arena as a graphic designer, advertising sales representative and agency account manager. 

Programs Committee Co-Chair – Paige Thompson  
Paige Thompson is a new member of CHC this year, serving on the programming committee. She is the Public Relations Manger for Centura Health at Home, a non-profit organization providing home health services across Colorado. Paige specializes in internal communications, website development and management, social media, media relations, event planning and fundraising. Over the past three years, she has consistently increased event participation, donations and media coverage for Soup for the Soul and Hike for Hospice, benefiting Porter Hospice and St. Anthony Hospice programs. Prior to joining Centura Health at Home in 2006, Paige worked at Sky Ridge Medical Center in marketing and the University of Virginia Health System in the telemedicine department. Paige is also a member of PRSA, and served on the Community Outreach committee in 2009.

Administrator – Lisa Bacchus
Lisa Bacchus, a transplant from Los Angeles, brings a wide variety of background to Colorado Healthcare Communicators. She is in her third year as Weise Communications Director of Operations.  Her 10 years of experience working in the entertainment industry allowed her to gain invaluable experience in operations, accounting and business management. Lisa was manager of finance and administration of Hammer Creative Advertising in Los Angeles, an agency that specialized in movie marketing through trailers and print. Lisa holds a bachelor of arts in communications from the University of Hawaii. As CHC’s administrator, she handles many of CHC's day-to-day functions, including maintaining the database, Web site updates, mailings, general communications, event registrations, customer relations and board member support.
