  1. Collateral: Recognizes the best collection of media used to support the sales of a product or service.  Entries will be judged on the effectiveness of the communication, the cohesiveness of the campaign, the overall content and the design and layout.

  1. Annual Report: Recognizes the best annual report published for 2008.  Entries will be judged on effectiveness of communicating the organizations accomplishments, overall content, writing style and quality and design and layout.

  1. Communication Programs: Recognizes the best full campaign for any project, which may include collateral, advertisements and media relations components.  Entries will be judged on effectiveness of communication, the cohesiveness of the campaign, the overall content and design and layout.

  1. Community Relations: Recognizes the best community programs, special events, campaigns or programs that target underserved populations.  Entries will be judged on the reach, the creativity and effectiveness of the program.

  1. Media Relations: Recognizes the best management of internal and external communications.  Entries will be judged on the quantity and quality of story placements and the effectiveness of communication.

  1. Website: Recognizes the best internal and external website.  Entries will be judged on the effective use of the medium, technical quality/navigation, editorial content, ease of use, and creativity.  Submissions must include a website URL and temporary password if site has restricted content.

  1. Presentation: Recognizes the best presentation of an organization’s products and services.  Entries will be judged on the effectiveness and creativity of the medium and the overall content.

  1. Writing: Recognizes the best single feature article appearing in an association publication.  Published and unpublished works are eligible. Entries will be judged on the clarity of voice, the writing quality/style, the conciseness of message and the effectiveness in meeting the stated objective of the piece.

  1.  Newsletters: Recognizes the best newsletters, published at least bi-annually.  Entries will be judged on the overall content, the effectiveness of the communication, the writing style and quality and the design and layout.

  1.   New Media: Recognizes communications programs, vehicles and formats that show innovation in communication.  Entries in this category may employ new and emerging communication vehicles or new and innovative usage of existing technologies.  Examples of possible entries include online communities, social networking sites, blogs, etc.  Entries will be judged on the overall content, the strategic use of technology, the overall effectiveness, and the audience reach and innovation.  Submissions must include electronic PDFs of the communications materials.  URLs and temporary passwords may be submitted if applicable.  

 

Special Awards

·         Media Representative of the Year: A member of the news media who has shown outstanding commitment to healthcare reporting.  Nominated by CHC membership. Forms are available at www.healthcarecommunicators.org and are due no later than August 27, 2010.

 

·         Professional of the Year: An individual, and CHC member, who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and skill in facing communication challenges.  Nominated by CHC Membership.  Forms are available at www.healthcarecommunicators.org and are due no later than August 27, 2010.

 

Judges’ Choice Awards

These awards are based on the judges’ selection of the best overall entry.  For the Colorado Hospital Project of the Year and the Colorado Non-Profit Project of the Year, only Colorado healthcare organizations are eligible.  All entries are eligible for the Grand Gold Leaf Award.
